Poyner , the loop, the picnic.

After spending the evening posting thanks to the many peoole who wished me a happy birthday I was lulled to sleep by the rain, hail, lightening and thunder; the tail end of the storm that smashed through Dallas. I slept through it as if it were my birthday. The road was a two lane for twelve miles, with no shoulder and tall wet grass. In some areas the grass was chest high. Nice (the dog) walked behind the World in the furrow I plowed as I kept out of traffic. There was no rushing in the high growth while I stepped high and carefully in the wet grasses and wildflowers. After the grass dried from the sun and I made it back to the wide four lane I was able to change to dry socks but the boots had become rank from so many days of being worn while wet. In the end of the day I was helped to a church where I stayed for the night. I talked with the pastor ofr hours this morning before I started around the loop around Athens. With a head wind and dozens of stops for interviews, pictures, conversations and laughs I have made it back to US-175 and a shaded spot. A good place for a picnic to enjoy the sandwich the local reporter brought me. I washed it down with the gatorade a highway worker gave me as I passed her. The wind has not let up and the hard miles of yesterday have me feeling tired. Or maybe it's the sandwich and the breezy shade.
It would be so easy to fall asleep...
I netter get on my gear and get it in gear. The World doesn't move effortlessly...

Glad, to hear you were able to sleep through the storm. Sorry for the tall grass you had to plow through tho. Glad you and nice are doing well. Loved the pictures of the wild flowers. It is amazing how many roads we east Texans drive down, and never get a chance to enjoy them like you are. Looking forward to your next post. Stay safe my friend, and Godspeed.

I saw you walking last night and almost hit you! I have only been driving for a few months and none of my friends believed me when I told them about almost hitting a man walking with a dog and a giant globe down the highway beside my house. This story is sure to bring many laughs to my life for years. Thank you for passing through Athens.

Hey World guy, such an amazing story you have to share. WHAT AN ADVENTURE YOU MUST BE HAVING!! I must say, I drive from Gun Barrel City, Tx to Tyler each day for work. I have seen you both coming and going the past 3 days and wondered what the heck? So today my son calls me, his name is Collin, and he asks,," have you seen the worldguy?" And then goes on to explain that he has just met you, invited you to his home, and since you and I have had birthdays this past week, he invited me too. Hoping to get to give you a belated birthday hug!!

Wow - saw you on 175 Thursday around 4pm (I think). What a amazing thing you are doing. I wanted to turn around but my husband so it would be too hard - we we're pulling a camper. I had to find out what you were doing and so I found this page. May God pour out his blessings on you! :) Jana
